Military Radio | PBR Game Asset

This military radio 3D model is a PBR game-asset study exploring how materials, surface history and presentation can transform the character of a single hard-surface asset. The artistic goal was to present two contrasting versions of the same radio. The clean variation uses polished, carefully maintained surfaces, while the worn version introduces dust, scratches, edge wear and roughness variation to suggest years of field use. Dark cinematic lighting and subtle environmental smoke reinforce the military atmosphere without hiding the model’s construction. The technical goal was to maintain clear, readable hard-surface geometry while creating convincing separation between painted metal, exposed metal, rubber, glass and smaller mechanical components. Different roughness and metalness treatments were tested to examine how the asset responds under changing lighting conditions. The fourteen-image presentation includes clean and weathered renders, material experiments and wireframe views. Autodesk 3ds Max was used for modeling, Adobe Substance 3D Painter for materials and texturing, and Unreal Engine 5 for staging and final rendering.Explore related work in our 3D portfolio, or contact Dream Design Studio to discuss a game-ready asset, hard-surface model or product visualization project.
